Gerald B. Lambert, Carter Hall, residence in Millwood, Virginia. Slave quarters. 1932 October 27 (Library of Congress)

The governor of the state of Virginia has released a proclamation declaring April “Celebrate Southern Sedition” month.  And he hasn’t been arrested!  What a great country this is.

Interesting spin Governor McConnell puts on the seditious rebellion of the southern states to protect their ability to enslave fellow human beings — it was a “war …for independence.”
