Jean Schmidt Is A Bad Public Servant

In this video from September 5, 2009, Congressperson Jean Schmidt (R-OH) is speaking with a constituent in West Chester, Ohio who is hysterical over her concern that President Obama “cannot be our president by our Constitution.”

What is Jean Schmidt’s response?

“I agree with you, but the courts don’t.”

This is irresponsible on so many levels but how about I pick one.

By saying “Courts” instead of “law” or “Constitution,” Jean Schmidt is telling this woman that if only the Judges were different, the result would be different. This kind of dangerous stupidity further erodes people’s confidence in our judicial system. It’s already difficult to believe we live in a country of laws when the likes of George Bush, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, Alberto Gonzales, Condi Rice and the rest of the Bush criminal administration remain free. But what does Jean Schmidt do? She tells her constituents it is open season on Judges.

Of all the people in this country who should know the United States Constitution forwards and backwards, Jean Schmidt is one, yet she completely fails to demonstrate that she has even the most basic grasp. And she does so at a time when people like the woman she is talking to are becoming more and more unhinged.

God forbid anything should happen to President Obama — or any Judge — but if it should, Jean Schmidt’s name will be on the list of those directly responsible. The Republican party is completely out of control. They apparently want to destroy the country if they can’t run it. And Jean Schmidt is doing her part as a proud member of the GOP.
