“What most recommends the Palin boom is that she is … as celebrated by the GOP right wing as she is reviled by the Democratic left wing.”

Eight months after the election, the governor is as natural and gifted a presidential candidate as anyone since Huey Long. The farther she stays away from Washington and the longer she pushes away those sharpies clamoring for her to raise PAC money, to prepare gray-bearded policy positions, network at the barbecues in Iowa and New Hampshire and South Carolina (well, maybe not South Carolina right now), the more box-office irresistible she will be to Republican primary voters. What most recommends the Palin boom is that she is now, 40 months to the election, as celebrated by the GOP right wing as she is reviled by the Democratic left wing.

John Batchelor said that. It will be fun to follow his arc of disappointment.

What Batchelor expresses is what is fundamentally broken about Republicans and conservatives. He and his fellow travelers have no respect or consideration whatsoever for the people of this country or the Constitution. Bipartisanship? That was just bullshit when the Republicans were in the majority, that was just bullshit for the campaign season. What it’s always meant to that crowd is “do it my way or not at all.”

But how much do you have to hate your fellow Americans to choose as your candidate for the office of president the person who the other party “reviles.” People like Batchelor want total war at every level all the time. Chaos and confusion keep the political Ponzi scheme afloat.

I blame Survivor for giving these morons a lot of bad ideas.

I don’t think it is too far-fetched to worry about outbreaks of real violence if she and/or her husband do end up facing federal corruption charges. I sure hope it doesn’t get to that, but her lack of awareness of the effect her violent rhetoric has on her supporters scares the crap out of me. Right-wing commenters frequently suggest that President Obama should be assassinated. A patriot at Michelle Malkin’s blog reacted to the thought of an Obama second term with the comment: “You presuppose he will fill his first term…”
