Mrs. Catherine Herbster budgets herself carefully. She buys those vegetables and food which are plentiful and cheap. She must see that her family of growing children get the right foods to make them strong and healthy. Possibly 1941. (Photo: US Office for Emergency Management)

As Michael Steele might say, “Da grownups in da house!”

Paul Krugman likes Obama’s budget.

  • $634 billion over the next decade for health reform
  • $645 billion in revenues from the sale of emission allowances

And these new priorities are laid out in a document whose clarity and plausibility seem almost incredible to those of us who grew accustomed to reading Bush-era budgets, which insulted our intelligence on every page. This is budgeting we can believe in.

Krugman goes on to talk about the deficit going forward and says it is manageable, at least for now. Resolving how healthcare is managed will be critical.
